Close to 60 people attended the April 26, 2012 IR Interest Group’s panel discussion on learning analytics, with about half attending in person and half via Adobe Connect. The panelists were: Simon Hooper, Associate Professor and Professor-in-Charge of Instructional Systems, College of Education; Chris Millet, Assistant Director, Education Technology Services; and Bart Pursel, Research Associate, the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence.

The panel provided a broad overview of learning analytics, illustrated some examples at Penn State and other institutions, and discussed how we can continue to use this important tool in helping students succeed at Penn State.

The Institutional Research Interest Group is a community of practice whose goal is to help strengthen Penn State’s capacity to use data for informed planning and decision making.  More information is available at ir.psu.edu. Participation in the IR Interest Group by any interested faculty members, staff, administrators, or students is welcome.
